Although Iran’s trade balance is positive, but based on the weight of goods, 27 million and 780 thousand tons of Iranian exports and 7 million and 263 thousand tons were Iran’s imports. That is, despite the fact that Iran’s imports are 7 million and 263 thousand tons, but Iran’s exports with nearly 4 times the weight of imports (27 million and 780 thousand tons), has been only one billion dollars more.
In other words, according to customs statistics, in the first quarter of 1995, the average import price per ton was over $ 1,200, while the average of Iran’s total exports during the quarter was below $ 240.
In this regard, as well as reviewing the export of Iranian plastic products, focusing on Iraq, we had a conversation with Dr. Saeed Turkman, head of the Export Commission of the National Plastic Association of Iran, and this conversation is before you.
INPIA: Mr. Dr. Turkman, how do you analyze the export situation of petrochemical products in the spring of 2016?
Turkman: Nearly 7 million tons of petrochemicals are in our non-oil export portfolio, valued at $ 3.5 billion, which means that the average price of petrochemicals exported is $ 500 per ton. The latest status of the optimizer shows that there are 10,000 registered units in the field of plastic industry.
Many trade unions and units that for some reason did not want to publish their statistics on the Behin Yab website are not included in this number, and the field of plastics in the country’s industry today is not specific to the plastics industry. From the high-tech electronics industry as a cover to various industries that play a key role in packaging. The field of plastics-related industries is much larger than the number registered in the optimizer in industries.
For example, today we see that the country’s saffron processing industries have been forced to use plastic industry devices in their modern units for ease of operation, which are beyond the capacity of 10,000 licensed industrial units.
This shows that the average price of plastic products is $ 1,500 to $ 3,500 per ton, which if we look at it in terms of the slogan of supporting national production and creating jobs and preventing the sale of raw materials, it makes sense to provide stable conditions for the plastics industry. Let the empty capacities of the plastics industry be activated and the difference between the sold goods of $ 500 to the average of $ 1,500 to $ 3,500, generate production, employment and added value in the country.
According to customs statistics, in the first quarter of 1995, the average import price per ton was over $ 1,200, while the average of Iran’s total exports during the quarter was below $ 240.
Today, industrial activists, if they pay close attention to these numbers, the demands they should have on the economy, foreign trade and industry of the country are precisely determined, that is, there is a 4-fold added value between exported goods and imported goods, which simply The planning of industrial organizations and industrial managers and the convergence of these two ideas are enough to bring a small percentage of this difference closer to this for the first period.
In other words, instead of petrochemical goods, which are exported at an average price of $ 500 per ton, the capacities of the plastics industry should be used and export goods with an export value of more than $ 500, even $ 501, should be produced and exported.
INPIA: How was the export of plastic products to the Iraqi market this spring?
Turkman: 60% of Iran’s plastic exports go to Iraq. According to this story, a statistic that we both felt as an economic activist and now provided by the Iranian customs for the spring of ’95, unfortunately a large part of our exports to Iraq in total It has decreased and, given that plastic was one of its markets in Iraq, it will have an exponential effect on the export of all plastic products.
INPIA: What do you think is the reason for the decrease in exports?
Turkmens: There are several reasons: the new policies of the Iraqi government to reduce oil prices, reduce the per capita income of the Iraqi people, which is beyond our control as producers. But the point that we have neglected is the traditional management of the Iraqi market, and in other words, we did not manage the market and left the market to the Iraqis – the Iranians who came and went to Iran, they managed the market, and in this Changing circumstances, we did not act agilely and quickly replaced our products with other countries, including Turkey.
INPIA: What is the solution to regain Iranian market share in Iraq?
Turkman: As all markets need to be managed and need the necessary incentives and managerial impediments, we must be pathologized by the market as a producer of our hands by experts and our presence as commercial offices, export management companies or Commercial units and warehouses, attending exhibitions that are held in different periods, make our presence more prominent.
While we did not attend fairs due to conservatism due to the security conditions of some cities, rival countries filled our vacancies and thus our market became smaller.
