The second industrial tour of the National Association of Polymer Industries of Iran visited Tehran Delta, a producer of artificial leather and shoe soles. This tour was organized by the Education Committee of the National Association of Polymer Industries of Iran to enhance the connection between academia and industry. During this visit, participants became familiar with the process of producing artificial leather and the challenges of its production line. According to the Public Relations report of the National Association of Polymer Industries of Iran, it is worth mentioning that this company has 400 personnel and is composed of various units.

During this visit, the shoe sole production section was initially inspected. Shoe soles come in various colors that are sprayed automatically. Additionally, various molds are produced for shoe soles, and polyurethane materials are injected into them based on the type of molds. After this stage, a trimming process is carried out to separate waste. Following these steps, the soles are packaged and sent to other departments, including companies that produce shoe uppers.

After viewing this section, the visitors went to the color mixing unit. In this section, besides the fact that colors are mixed, there was a need for some creativity; such as using materials and additives that provide both high color resistance and transparency. In fact, the personnel working in this section had to constantly come up with ideas to ensure all necessary parameters are met. Additionally, the laboratory of this unit, which examined the integration of different colors, was also visited.

After this section, the visitors also saw the “Coating” department, where various designs are printed on fabric using heat and suction. The output of this section is used as upholstery for car and airplane seats, as well as military tents, and with additional processes, it is used for producing sofa covers.
