The meeting to draft the document on plastic pollution officially began today, Tuesday, November 13, at 10 a.m. in the presence of the Kenyan President

In the middle of the session, the various groups began reading out their statements.

The statement of the Asia-Pacific Group, of which Iran is a member, as well as the statements of Oman, Saudi Arabia, other Arab countries, Kenya and the Russian Federation contained positions close to those of Iran.

Dr. Rezvaniyan from IRAN then presented the declaration of the like-minded group and requested the inclusion of certain clauses in this document. It was agreed that these clauses would be reviewed by the United Nations by Thursday

Finally, Ms. Mirzajani read out the Iranian statement in which she criticized the lack of consideration of differences between countries and called the document unfair; she requested the addition of clauses and sections to the original document to make it more understandable

It should be noted that the representative of the National Association of Polymer Industries of Iran is attending this event together with the representatives of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Environment.
