In coordination with the Waste Management Organization of Tehran Municipality, a visit program to the ‘MRF Koohak Complex (next to Chitgar Metro Station)’ has been planned for Sept. 17

In this plant, 750 tons of mixed municipal waste from three districts (5, 21 and 22) of Tehran are received and processed daily. In the processing hall of this facility, the mixed municipal waste is separated into three main streams through separation processes on sorting equipment. These streams are then transported to their respective destinations for further disposal.

Approximately 52% of the waste generated at the MRF Koohak complex consists of organic waste, including fruit and vegetable waste, as well as food waste. This organic waste is transported to the composting and refining site of Aradkuh complex using specialized vehicles for the production of organic fertilizer.

Additionally, around 33% of the waste, which is classified as reject waste (dry waste without recycling value, i.e., dry waste with calorific value), is transferred to the waste-to-energy incineration plant of Aradkuh complex for waste conversion into energy.
